At Clarity Pediatrics, your virtual medication consultation appointment is 60 minutes long and should be attended by both the child and the parents/caregivers. Pediatric ADHD treatment is not the same for all families, and our goal is to find the right medication that works for your child.
This appointment is a clinical service. Your insurance will be billed for this medication consultation, unless you have indicated that you'd prefer to pay out of pocket for Clarity's services.
During the visit: Your provider will discuss your family’s goals for treatment, relevant family and medical history, your child’s current prescription medications, and any past experience with ADHD medication.
After the initial visit: If you and your Clarity Pediatrics pediatrician agree that a medication trial is right for your family at this time, your child should begin to take the medication as prescribed. Our providers' expertise in ADHD means they understand how to manage these medications so that your child is taking a safe and appropriate type and dosage.
While taking the medication: Medications affect everyone differently, and it may take several weeks for your child’s body to adjust. ADHD medications typically require lifestyle changes in order to ensure that side effects and symptoms are well-managed, and your provider will discuss lifestyle-related recommendations (e.g., nutrition, sleep, exercise) during your consultation and follow-up appointments.
Treatment plan adjustments: Due to legal regulations around ADHD medications, your provider can only make adjustments to your child’s medication once per month. If your child is experiencing side effects of the medication, please reach out to your child’s pediatrician or Clarity Pediatrics provider promptly.
Refills: If your child is experiencing no intolerable side effects, refills can be requested by messaging your Clarity Pediatrics pediatrician in our secure telehealth platform.
